How long do you take chemo pills to stay in AML remission?
Community Member
I was diagnosed with AML Feb. 24, 2024. I went thru chemo till May 2024. Did it with the help of protocol- google Joe Tippens videos, I believe it helped me. In remission but taking 2 chemo pills each month to hopefully keep it away.
Should I have pushed harder when my blood cancer screening was dismissed?
have had abnormal blood reading for 3 years that my PCP did not alarm me to. The lastest test did mention seeing a hematologist finaly. I did one of the new blood biopsy available now which sceens for over 50 cancers. Two companies now offer this and it is not currently paid by insurance. It cost me 750.00 for the test and it came back positive for possible blood cancer (myeloid lymphoma). I showed this document to the cancer center and they dismised it and canceled my appointment saying it was premature dening me early medical intervention, this was 3 months ago. I stressed to have a bone marrow done and it came back with 23% blast and the worst high risk mutation of aml with inversion 3 mecom mutation. The origanal doctor that denied me early medical intervention had me do another bone marrow biopsy to confirm. He has since put me in his trial but it should have been done when I was 4% blast. I start chemo today but dont expect to get a response now to make it to a BMT. Our medical system does need to know how to treat early detection as it came make a diferance as I had a very low grade MDS mutation that was very treatable.
