Good Morning Everyone. I was just diagnosed on Oct 6, 2023. Stage 1, additional MRI. Anxiety does not even begin to explain how I'm feeling.

That overwhelming feeling after a new diagnosis is so valid and shared by many in this community. The anxiety that comes with those first days can feel incredibly intense, and connecting with others who truly understand this journey can provide comfort and strength during this challenging time.

Hi Mia, Sorry you found yourself with this diagnosis, but you have an amazing support system here. It took me 8 years to Speak about my anxiety and how scared I was once I receive my diagnosis. Your feelings are normal and it get easier once you start treatment. You will look back at this and laugh. I’m was scared that I had convinced myself , that The Huge radiation machine was going come loose from the wall and fall on me. You see I can laugh about this now.

I do chuckle at the irony of being diagnosed during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Thank you πŸ™πŸ½

Hi Mia. I was diagnosed during Breast Cancer Awareness Month too; DCIS on 10 October. I am scheduled for surgery on 3 November and I’m nervous as this date comes closer but a lot of help from my medical staff has helped some. I have come to believe that surgery is the easy part - it is the residual things ie radiation, hormone therapy, threat of recurrence, etc that I must stay prayed up on. Blessings and light to you through your journey!

Hello Mia, you are not alone! As I went from test to test, appointment to appointment, and treatment to treatment I discovered I was not alone. I am thankful for my family and the Pink Warrior Community πŸ’— I had to talk to myself too knowing God didn't give me a spirit of fear, but power, love and a sound mind. I am praying for you and believe you will get through this season of your life victorious πŸ‘ πŸ™Œ πŸ‘ πŸ™Œ

Mia I believe that is routine to check both breast. Although I was diagnosed in my left breast my doctor requested 2 additional test of my left breast before my surgery. We are praying for you and desiring the best care for you.

@Danielle - I am doing well. The surgery went well on that Friday and I was able to go to work on that Tuesday. It was rough on both Tuesday and Wednesday but today things have eased up some. I have fibromyalgia to battle with as well so…

@ Danielle so glad to hear everything went well with you. My appointment went well - margins were clean and received the referrals for both the radiation oncologist and medical oncologist. So on to that next part of the journey.

@Mia, oh nooo.. What’s going on with your recovery? My medical oncologist couldn’t do anything for me because my cancer wasn’t hormone driven. I don’t know whether to be happy or sad 😞 I just finished Day 15 of radiation yesterday with 6 more to goπŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ™ŒπŸ½ Unfortunately, I’m dealing with congestion, body aches and a headache now. Not a lot of coughing or sneezing but definitely uncomfortable. Do you have to have radiation?

@Danielle, just painful due to the lymph node removal. The swelling and numbness does not make for a good night's sleep. Will have to do radiation, but now double checking HR2 to verify if negative before deciding if chemo will be needed as well.
