How do you cope with rare parathyroid cancer that has spread to the brain?

My name is Kenneth, and I suffer from parathyroid cancer. This cancer has spread to my lungs and my brain. I’ve gone through radiation therapy and surgery for the cancer. It’s in remission in my parathyroid gland and my lungs. The brain is a different matter. Last year about this time, I had a stroke. That’s when I found out the metastatic brain tumors. It’s hard to deal with it. The tumors were first removed from my brain via surgery, then through radiation therapy. The bad thing about parathyroid cancer is it’s a rare cancer. There aren’t many studies done on it. I feel like a guinea pig in a study for a cure.

Dealing with a rare cancer like this brings unique challenges, especially when standard treatment paths aren't well-established. The feeling of uncertainty that comes with limited research is completely valid, and many patients with rare cancers share similar experiences navigating uncharted territory. Finding connection with others who understand these specific challenges, whether through online communities or patient advocacy groups for rare cancers, can provide valuable emotional support and practical insights during this difficult journey.

If a group is created to deal with the challenges of having a rare or highly unusual cancer, it would make life easier to deal with.
