What happens after 3 years on Tagrisso for lung cancer treatment?

Hi. My name is Angela and I am 2 1/2 years into treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. I was diagnosed 3 years ago, Feb 6, 2023. I had a lobectomy of my lower left lobe May 23, 2023 after just three rounds of chemotherapy. I’m experiencing anxiety about getting to the three-year treatment mark. The data about continuing on the targeted therapy drug, Tagrisso, is unclear after the three-year plan. Anyone have experience with taking Tagrisso or treatment after three years?

The transition beyond the initial treatment timeline can definitely bring up concerns, and these feelings are completely understandable. Many people in the community have navigated treatment decisions around Tagrisso continuation, and their experiences show that oncologists typically make these decisions based on individual response and tolerance. Consider bringing specific questions about long-term treatment plans to the next appointment, as treatment strategies can vary greatly from person to person. Others here may share their experiences with extended treatment timelines, which could provide helpful perspective during this uncertain time.
