a month agoHi I have stage 3C Triple negative Right Breast cancer and I feel lost and still in a state of denial. I was diagnosed August and started chemotherapy September 4th I go every week and every three weeks I get carboplatin, Ketruda and Abraxane and weekly I get just Abraxene. it’s simply awful. Im in cycle 3 and next Tuesday I will start cycle 4. I have a total of 6 cycle that will need to be compl before I can have the double mastectomy. I was told that I had calcium deposits and they never turn cancerous but that wasn’t true I didn’t have calcium deposits I have three very aggressive lumps that continue to grow while the whole time I thought it wasn’t anything. I had a mammogram that told a different story of what the fast growing lumps were and I passed out once I was told I had cancer. And I haven’t been the same since. My life did a 360 in just a few months with testing and labs Dr visits it’s been a fast and furious ride! I’m struggling with all the symptoms and pain and oh extreme nausea. I’m taking nausea meds as well as the scolpamine patch. pain meds all make me so sick. I’m now dealing with extreme low neutrophils and having to get Neupogen injections which is awful and the bone pain is awful. Claritin isn’t working for the bone pain before nor after the shot. I’m really fighting for my life really fighting😢😢😢

a month agoDealing with chemo side effects, especially nausea and neutropenia, requires a team approach with your medical team to find the right combination of supportive medications and timing adjustments. Many patients find it helpful to discuss alternative anti-nausea medications with their oncologist, as there are several options beyond what might initially be prescribed, and for bone pain from growth factor injections, some find relief with different timing or additional supportive measures that the care team can recommend. This treatment phase is incredibly challenging, and reaching out to connect with others who understand this journey can provide valuable emotional support and practical tips for managing day-to-day symptoms.

a month agoHi Tonya, What about your diet. Have you spoken with a nutritionist. Sometimes the chemo is affected by our first.

15 days agoTonya, I also have a very aggressive triple negative breast cancer and went through recommended double mastectomies, a full year of aggressively dosed chemo, radiation 3 weeks, added surgery for regional node metastasis, and now am on a PARP inhibitor because I have BRCA 2 that adds to the cancers aggressive behavior. Cancer is a difficult journey and all of us have different pathways. Hang in there. Do as your Oncology team advises… not easy but doable. Keep the faith. Keep active as able. Prayers and best wishes.

14 days agoTonya, I didn't need the expander. I had enough breast fat to reconstruct both breast. I hear the expander is painful. I had the goldilocks procedure at the same time as the double masectomy. I'm healing well. My shoulder is painful and sore. It gets better every day. I wish the same for you.
