How do I cope with dismissive doctors during cancer treatment?

Experiencing dismissive behavior from medical staff is unfortunately all too common and can feel incredibly isolating, especially when dealing with something as serious as cancer treatment. Consider advocating for yourself by bringing a trusted friend or family member to appointments, requesting a patient advocate if your hospital has one, or asking to speak with the doctor's supervisor about communication concerns. Many people in this community have faced similar challenges and found ways to get the respectful care they deserve - have others here found effective strategies for dealing with dismissive medical professionals?

I switched surgeons and was led to a surgeon who was a true Goddsend, compassionate, and believes in the power of prayer. Don't be afraid to get a secind or even a third opinion and pray for guidance. Best decision I could have made was to switch and my surgical outcome was fantastic. My original surgeon was also dismissive, and I am forever grateful to Jesus that He led me elsewhere. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself when something doesn't feel right. I feel rushed to make a decision 2 different types of treatment, but decided that I need more time to organize myself for the next stage of treatment. My spouse has MS, and is in a wheelchair, but is able to get around except drive. Choosing next treatment concerns us both for my longevity.

May you find peace amidst this storm thru faith in Jesus. I have many miraculous stories of God showing up throughout my cancer diagnosis journey this past year, especially every time the enemy threw obstacles in my way (which has been often). I have been through chemo, surgery, and now finishing "cleanup chemo" folowing my surgery. I am planning on doing some herbal and off-label things once chemo is finished the end of this month (dandelion root extract, Fenbendazole, ivermectin, turket tail mushrooms), in hopes of preventing recurrance. But my most powerful tool has been prayer, having hands laid on me with healing prayers, and being rebaptized). My 14 cm tumor was reduced to 1 1/2 cm, as well as lymph nodes all being shrunk, with the first 6 rounds of chemo (shocked my doctors), all of which made my surgery possible and successful with clean margins, No stoma bag, and a quick and easy recovery from surgery.....all this I believe was a direct result of prayer. May you trust God to guide you through this. I got the books "Finding Fenbendazole", "Life, Cancer and God", "How to Starve Cancer" and other books and blogs....I am not following just one idealogy, but am finding the ckmmkn threads of complementary thjngs I can do to suppport my body's immune system. I follow Pete Sulak on u-tube for same types of suggestions. and "Chris Beat Cancer". It is overwhelming at first, but I have found the common threads from all and have changed my diet, sleep habits, etc. Pete Sulak says to do small steps, to support the body, do what you can with what you have available. I have found the common threads that help me, and diet is one of the biggest ones for me, but I am not a fanatic about it, because I need it to be sustainable. My body now tells me when I am not eating the right things. Also, google Kathleen Young on "A Stronger Faith" podcast on U-tube. She has a truly miraculous story of healing from terminal cancer! I turn to prayer at every decision, and my doctors (and I and my family, friends) have been amazed with my results. I hope to ring the bell on Sept 30th, God willing)!
