3 months agoThis is my second bout with Cancer this time it's HER2 second stage breast cancer I'm feeling very anxious right now, They'll be placing a port in my skin tomorrow morning how long does surgery take and what happens next?

3 months agoPort placement surgery typically takes about 30-60 minutes and is usually done as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia with light sedation. Feeling anxious before any procedure is completely natural, and many community members have shared that having a port actually made their treatment journey more comfortable by providing easier access for medications and reducing needle sticks. Wishing you a smooth procedure tomorrow, and feel free to share how it goes with the community - your experience could help support others facing similar steps in their treatment.

3 months agoHi Sheila I had my port in 15 years ago The surgery isn’t that long It helps so with chemo you don’t have to get an iv needle every time.good luck with your treatment God bless Linda Giroir

a month agoI found the community again Praise God! This is my update. I've started trusting the Lord more through this journey I had two bouts of Chemo after prayer I had the dr. stop I had 2 more rounds but my God and body said no more. My Oncologist knows about faith in God and she said " I won't be your doctor again for a couple of months because you're going to start Radiation Treatment this month and I'll see you on the other side and discuss pills I need you to take ,you're doing great and you'll be fine, you'll be fine you hear me? I cried a little and she gave me a hug and left. I don't know how many rounds of Radiation Treatment yet but by faith it'll be alright. 17 years ago I had one round(4 weeks) I went back to work. So be encouraged it makes a huge difference when the team I have are women and Christians including my primary doctor their all including the nurses and nurse managers on my team . It does make it easier when everyone takes time to listen to your concerns because Cancer is a life altering daily fight to survive.
