It's completely understandable to have questions when the treatment options presented don't match what research suggests might be available. Many patients with DCIS do receive breast-conserving surgery as an option, so asking for clarification about why certain treatments weren't discussed is absolutely reasonable. Consider requesting a detailed conversation with the medical team about all available options and the specific factors that influenced their recommendations for this particular case.

6 months agoHello! Left breast DCIS Stage 0. Scheduled for nipple/skin sparing DMX on 6/10 with reconstruction. I opted for the mastectomy because of the strong family history and I am BRCA 2 positive. I wish you total healing and strength. 🙏🏾

6 months agoHi Dajuana from ny on this memorial day. I Pray that God guide the Dr's, nurses, anasteologist and any who will be involved in you surgery and care. And may you have a speedy recovery. But since I'm scheduled bilateral mastectomy 6/11 no reconstruction, as I and the surgical team are very concerned about the amount of time I will be under sedation because of my heart and kidney issues. So I'm truly nervous but trying my hardest to not over think what is going to happen by taking my mind if for only a few hrs over the course of the past 3 days. Bbq alittle Marvin Gaye, aretha and Carol King kind of take my mind off everything. So girl get you headphones and play the music that makes you feel good and calm and it doesn't hurt to throw a steak on the grill. Pamper yourself, you deserve it 💯
