Many people have questions about traveling during cancer treatment, and it's great that you're planning ahead. Flying during chemotherapy can be possible for many patients, but timing and safety considerations are important factors that vary from person to person. Your oncology team will be the best resource to help you understand what's right for your specific situation and treatment schedule - they can advise on things like when your immune system might be strongest and any precautions to consider.

I was going through chemo last year and traveled by plane to Florida. I was really careful and wore a N95 mask while at the airport and on the plane. Unfortunately, my husband didn’t wear a mask and got covid and then I got covid. It delayed my treatment for 3 weeks.

I too had to travel from the south to up north for treatment. It was so expensive but we had no choice to get the treatment I needed. I am currently cancer free. I want to share with you 4 charities that I found tremendously helpful even though I didn't use them all: Joe's House helped me find places that gave discounted rates for extended stays for cancer patients . The American Cancer Society provides places as well. Then the Corporate Angel Network tries to match patients in need of air transportation with companies with corporate planes to use their empty seats. Lastly, the hospital itself had a social work dept who helped me immensely. You can google any of them. God bless all of them. They were all amazing! Love, gratitude, and prayer will carry you through!

I had to travel from Boston to LA one day after chemotherapy. It was the most nerve racking flight I have ever been on. I felt like I was having an out of body experience. Was very nauseous but no vomiting, thank goodness.
