What should I expect from bladder cancer chemotherapy treatment?

I was diagnosed, but I haven't been told the stage or grade yet. I was told the probable treatment would be chemo, then bladder removal. I have an appointment tomorrow with one of my urologists, and then an appointment with oncologist on the 15th. I had low grade low stage breast cancer 13 years ago, radiation no chemo. I'm nervous about how my body is going to react to the chemotherapy. I know no one goes through this the same way, but I'd really appreciate any tips or ideas for what I might be in store for.

How long can you live with bladder cancer without treatment?

Hello, I just had TURB on Oct. 8 this year. I have yet to know what stage but it is inside the wall of the bladder. I go for a bone scan on 17th and then a pet scan at some point. Has anyone been told how long if you do not do chemo and radiation. My husband spent 5 days a week in chemo, my mother did chemo too. Not a good outcome for either. Immunotherapy may be an option but not if I have to suffer through it for months. I'm 65 and have had a good life. Would rather spend my time outside a doctor's office. Oncologist wants to take my bladder. I just don't think I can have a bag the rest of my life.

Will incontinence after second TURBT surgery go away?

I just had my 2nd TURBT this week. Confirmed not muscle invasive. I do have high grade aggressive cancer. Last one was 7 weeks ago. 2 more tumors removed, scar tissue, and was able to get a piece of the muscle this time. Also instilled that chemo drug mytomycin. I go for CT scans a wk from Monday. Will start BCG in December after my bladder heals. This is a scary process. Every step of the way is an unknown. This Turbt has left me with some incontinence issues. All I do is urinate. It's only been three days. Hopefully it subsides.

What to expect after TURBT bladder surgery when living alone?

Hi, I’m Barb, I’m 87 years old with a history of UTIs since I was a little girl. I was a smoker back in the day, but haven’t smoked for 35 years. August 1 of this year 2025 I had a gallbladder attack. I went to ER. They ended up taking out my gallbladder. CT scan found a mass on my bladder. Ultrasound and cystostomy found a 2 cm tumor at the top of my bladder. I am scheduled for a TURBT Nov 5. 2025 The paperwork says outpatient. I also have a fib and I have to stop Xarelto 4 to 5 days before the procedure. I live alone will I need someone at the house when I get home? I have no family close.

Living with side effects after bladder cancer treatment at 83?

I had Bladder cancer for 9 years before having a bladder removal and prostatectomy the age of 83! The prostate was not involved, but being adjacent to the bladder, it was recommend to remove it because of my age!! I have survived 8 rounds of chemo, 6 rounds of immunotherapy(Opdivo). My cancer is supposedly gone, but now living with the results of the cure! (Rheumatoid Arthritis). Its been one year and a very rocky one at that! Still dealing with side effects of everything! Balance issues now and beginning treatments for RA, which are two drugs administered via infusion, one every month, the other every 3 months! I still am grateful to Karmanos in Detroit and Dr. Michael Cher for their kind and efficient care during the past year, along with my oncologist, Dr Michael Cotant. Incredibly great doctors and great care from their staffs!
