Why do I panic about every pain after lumpectomy?

Is it normal to get really freaked out when I get occasional pains in the breast that had the lumpectomy ? I’m fine 3 1/2 years clean so far but not matter what I do this cancer is always in the back of my mind so I jump to the wrong conclusions all of the time.

It's completely understandable to feel anxious about new pains or sensations after going through breast cancer treatment. Many cancer survivors experience similar feelings of worry when physical symptoms arise, even years after treatment. These concerns are a normal part of the emotional recovery process, and reaching out to your healthcare team when you have questions about new symptoms can help provide reassurance and peace of mind.

Yes 2 years after my lumpectomy and I still have pains in my breast. You automatically think omg it’s back. I think it’s a thought everyone who has had breast cancer goes through. All we can do is pray and keep up with our mammograms.

My doctor, after a year and a half, told me to expect that my whole life. I couldn't believe it.

Yes had lumpectomy a month ago and occasionally I get pain. Mine is the scar tissue I'm sure.
