Is anyone on the medication Letrozole? I have to start soon but want to make sure I’m on the right one. Thoughts?

I’ve been on it for 448 days. I had a few nite sweats when I started. I never had them in menopause so I thought I had a fever! I have arthritis anyway in my left hand so the joint pain thing hasn’t really been bad. I developed shoulder stiffness on my surgery side but again I don’t know if it’s the Letrozole. My cholesterol shot up to 233, but I watch what I eat, so the dr said as long as I stay under 300, it’s cool. I had a Dexa scan after I finished rads in Nov 2022, so I’m due for one of those. The last one was barely in osteopenia. I told my onco dr I’m not doing bone drugs, bc they have more side effects than the letrozole. I take pure health bone supplements and do Nativepath collagen shakes. I don’t have neuropathy and I do cardio/ weights every day, and I walk occasionally. My dr chose letrozole bc I have heart palpitations, and anastrozole and extremesene are hard on the organs. One of those two causes jaw problems too. Honestly, I’ve been very blessed. I have thin hair and a little bit of urgency sometimes. The most annoying thing about letrozole is anything that improves the skin and hair has stuff that increases estrogen and my beasties feed off it. I’m not about to do anything to negate the letrozole blocking my cancer, so I’m stuck with wigs and wrinkles. I’m also 72, so I don’t know how old you are. Sorry so long. Blessings💕🙏🥰

I am 74. I have been on Letrozole for almost 2 years. I had the same effects as the above. However, I had a total hysterectomy just before starting the medication. So I had hot flashes and night sweats. That dissipated. I also take Xyzal non-drowsy antihistamines for it

I’m 65 and have thick hair. My beauties feed off of Es & prog as well. So thinning hair, joint pain and finding something to add to my diet for cologne and high cholesterol. Thant about the jest of it. Thank you both so much for the information, it’s very helpful so have conversations about with my DR.

Yes I have both but allergy pill helps I had itchy skin and hot flash before I started Letz. I started taking it the middle of January I don't have any problems with side effects now. I take calcium and Vit D to counteract that lack hormones as Letz decreases bone renewal. That is the the only advice my Dr told me since supplements are not FDA approved he won't comment on them. He told me sugar feeds cancer is old wives tale. So I am doing my own research I trying to cut back my sugar increase my protein increase my intake of foods to held fight cancer.

Moderation is the key word with sugar but I don’t do much of it anyway since diabetes runs in our family. My onco dr told me the prob is healthy cells need it to thrive too and you just can’t slap the cancer ones on the head and say no not for you! I don’t do junk food and only put creamer in my coffee. Oh and here’s a good one- when they inject you with the dye for a pet/ct scan guess what’s in it to make cancer cells light up??!😱

I have been on letrozole for 3 weeks and so far I feel nothing- of course I have psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia - I am 69 had a total hysterectomy years ago… I’m used to shoulder pain and feel no different. I have thick hair and so far have not noticed any thinning - even my hairdresser (who doesn’t have any idea of what I’m going through) however she commented on how thick my hair was !!! Keeping my 🤞🏼🤞🏼and keep on praying 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I've been on letrozole for 5 months now. At first no issues. About 3 months in I had horrible bone/joint pain, I couldn't even pick up a cup of tea. I was going to go off letrozole but at the same time I noticed I was slightly getting better, after two weeks the pain had gone away. Then I developed insomnia around same time. Had to go on trazodone to help with that. About 6 weeks ago I developed horrible pelvic pain and ended up in the ER. Went to several doctors and last one (I think diagnosed what the problem was). After going to the ER for pelvic pain my oncologist okayed me to go off my letrozole (and after a few days off of it I slept like a baby) but she said my pelvic pain probably wasn't relateted to the letrozole. The last doctor I saw (an urogynogologist) said I had a partial prolapsed bladder and High Floor Pelvic Tone Dysfunction (which also can cause spasms, which I had/have). So did the letrozole cause this? I don't know. I am back on my letrozole now and so far am not feeling any worse (and am feeling better but the pain is still there). But this last doctor put me on baclofen and also wants me to start nortriptyline for the spasms and pain (that med can also be used for depression which I do not have). So it's starting to be so confusing to me. I'm looking for an integrative functional doctor now. So far I'm sleeping okay now. (It's been 1 week back on letrozole). I only wake up 1 time a night. Before it was 5, 6 or more times, I lost count or I would wake up at 230 or 330 and never be able to go back to sleep. It's going to be a long journey 4 1/2 years left for letrozole for me
