Seeking Light Therapy Options During Cancer Treatment

Since being diagnosed with breast cancer and having chemo I am inside a lot and I’m receiving virtually no sunlight . I was always a tanner because it helped with seasonal depression. I realize tanning beds are not advisable so I’m searching for a way to get my light and vitamin D . I’m becoming very depressed .

Light therapy devices designed for seasonal depression can be a helpful option to explore, and many people find that spending time near windows during daylight hours or taking short outdoor walks when energy permits can also provide some natural light exposure. It's wonderful that you're being proactive about your mental health during treatment - discussing both light therapy options and vitamin D supplementation with your healthcare team can help you find safe approaches that work alongside your current treatment plan.

Check with a local chiropractor office>>> ask if they offer light box therapy, if so schedule some sessions, ins Should cover this. It's basically the same as tanning but in a different format, helps with S.a.d.d. Good Luck to you♡

Get your vit D levels checked and talk to your doc about antidepressants and light therapy. I am on Pristiq which also helps with hot flashes from anastrozole. I also take Vit D daily with calcium. I hope you find some relief soon.

Getting vitamin D levels checked s great advice. Don't forget to take vitamin K with your D to mitigate arterial sclerosis. Its a serious thing. Google t and anything anyone tells you to confirm! Good luck.

I live in the PNW on the coast and we have few actual sunny days (think 8-9 months of winter, marine layer and fog). Coming from Texas this is the opposite of what I lived for 30 years. The vitamin D3 deficiency can be horrendous on a person (I know from experience) and now take 1k iu daily to combat SAD. it helps tremendously. Best to you Melinda.
