This is such an important decision, and it's completely understandable to want to hear from others who've faced similar choices. Treatment decisions can feel overwhelming, especially when there are different options to consider. Many people in this community have navigated these difficult decisions and found it helpful to share their experiences and reasoning. The medical team's recommendations are based on specific factors in each case, so connecting with others here while also discussing concerns thoroughly with the oncology team can provide valuable perspective as you work through this decision.

I have medaplastic triple negative breast cancer. Stage 3. I also am dealing with Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Antiphospholipid Syndrome and (increased blood clotting disorder), COPD, lung cancer 3 years ago. Because of these existing illnesses I have chosen to have Palliative Care and transition to Hospice when I need it. I am also 76 years old. I am a believer that quality is the better option over quantity.

I opted out of chemo. Did 25 sessions of radiation. I have also completely changed my lifestyle. Quit sugar and alcohol and lost 60 lbs in 6 months. I felt like chemo was overkill. I recently had a petscan and it all looked really good.

I opted out since I’m 77 and the side effects chemo has. Took 25 rounds of radiation

I'm 64. I've been recommended to have radiation (will start next month) not chemotherapy. If I were ever told I need chemotherapy it would be a firm no. I'd rather go home to Jesus. I'm opting for quality of life over quantity. It's a purely personal decision. Research is your friend and you have to decide what your goals and priorities are.
