I had my double mastectomy 5/30 and have been on aromatase inhibitor, Anastrazole for 6 months. Because of that my hair now feels like straw and is falling out more and my skin is beyond extremely dry. Has anyone found a good lotion or shampoo?

Many community members have found success with gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers and sulfate-free shampoos specifically designed for sensitive or damaged hair when dealing with similar side effects from treatment. Consider looking for products with ingredients like ceramides for skin hydration and biotin or keratin for hair strength - and don't hesitate to ask your care team for specific product recommendations that work well alongside your current treatment plan.

Hi, Karen, I've been using Dove Hydration Boost Body Wash and Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion for my dry skin.

I use a tub of Aquaphor Healing Ointment. I take a hot bath and towel dry to damp skin & then apply liberally. It’s sticky at first so I spend time to soak into skin in a lightweight cotton road!

Karen, is it the anastrazole causing this?

Anastrozole depletes estrogen which in turn deletes the necessary components for strong bone & bone growth.

Use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. Patene makes an affordable one. Also L’Oréal has a line too. Also use Argon oil on the hair shaft ( a dime size for just the shaft not roots) Cut back on shampooing to every other day and right before you shampoo put another dose of the argon oil on it. Trader Joe’s has argon oil and hair oil. Lastly, cut back on the blow drying. One or 2 days a week, this will help the hair repair itself. This does work. Good luck.
