a month agoThis is such an important question about treatment planning after surgery. The decision about chemotherapy following triple negative breast cancer surgery depends on many individual factors that only your oncology team can properly evaluate, including tumor characteristics, staging, and your overall health profile. Many patients in this community have navigated similar treatment decisions and found it helpful to prepare specific questions for their oncologist about the potential benefits and risks in their particular situation.

22 days agoSo many factors go into this recommendation and personal choice. I was diagnosed with stage 1b grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma, TNBC, negative genetics at age 48. I was very active, ate a well rounded diet, and was otherwise healthy at diagnosis. My oncology team very strongly recommended AC followed by Taxol (total of 16 infusions over 6 months) to reduce the chances of recurrence following my mastectomy. I’m two weeks out from completing my last infusion, and as challenging as it has been, I feel as though I will never regret fighting this thing as hard as I possibly could to prevent going through this again or shortening my life unnecessarily. But so much went into that decision. My suggestion would be to thoroughly discuss it with your oncology team, get a second opinion, and do your own research to make the best possible choice for yourself. I wish you the best.
