Does anyone have experience with 5 day targeted radiation? I am considering this over 20 conventional treatments.

This is a great question about treatment options that many people in the breast cancer community consider. Both 5-day targeted radiation (often called accelerated partial breast irradiation) and conventional radiation schedules have their own benefits and considerations that vary from person to person. It would be wonderful to hear from others who have experience with either approach to share their insights about the logistics, side effects, and overall experience to help inform your discussion with your radiation oncologist.

I was going to do it. My onco doctor says it just as effective as the 20 treatments. I ended up in a study and did one high powered tx ( total was amount of about the 20 tx) . My research that i did on the 5 treatment was very favorable re the outcomes

Hi Melani, i researched it also and found the same info I liked the fact that it is more localized to where the tumor was removed instead of doing my whole breast. I am stage 2 and early detected but mine did not go outside the duct even though it is labeled TNBC and 3.2 cm i feel very good about this 5 day decision. My Onco was pushing for the 20 but they have this protocol to fo by.
