a year agoHello! Curious if anyone is experiencing itchiness of the skin as a side effect from tamoxifen. I have these itchy surges. Like a hot flash when it comes and goes and only on my face. I haven’t told my onco because they’re obvs just gonna give me another pill to take. The itchiness is relatively mild.

Skin reactions like itchiness can happen with tamoxifen, and many people in the breast cancer community have shared similar experiences with various side effects. It's completely understandable to want to avoid adding more medications, but documenting these symptoms and discussing them with your healthcare team can help ensure you're getting the best care possible - sometimes there are simple solutions or adjustments that don't involve additional pills.

6 months agoAfter being on taxol, I was on herceptin for 10 months. My skin gets very itchy, and yes, hot flashes. It's hard when the sun hits my skin or being in the humidity. I have a spot on my back that inches all the time. I did tell my oncologist, and he thought it was weird. I asked him if I was the only one who complained about this, and he said yes. I just wonder if most people don't connect the dots and don't say anything to their oncologist. I love going to the beach, but till this stops, I'm stuck inside.

6 months agoThank you ladies for your reply. I guess this itchiness is part of the side effects. I ended up telling the nurse about it. They said some reports were itchiness in the body and not the face so they thought it was weird as well.

6 months agoI get it across my back (where your bra would be) that is unbearable at times. It starts with what feels like a vibration inside on one spot and then spreads. I was told it's dry skin. I say NO. I know the difference. I feel ìt inside first.

6 months agoThe drug that decrease estrogen can cause dry skin, dry eyes, dry vaginal area and even dry ears. Aveno liquid soap, tan bottle with green lid is great. Aveno has some great lotions, put them on as soon as you get out of shower.

6 months agoA year ago I was dx with IDC, HR+, HER2-, Grade 2 Stage 1. I too am on Tamoxifen and started taking it 5 months ago and yes I’m having bouts of itching around my waist/hip area which is more than irritating. I’ve been using the Aveno lotion but now thinking I’ll maybe look for the liquid soap. Initially I was determined not to take Tamoxifen but decided that dealing with the side effects might be better than dealing with cancer spreading.

6 months agoI don't know if it would be any help but maybe consult a very experienced dermatologist. I saw a menopause video that talked about some women having different skin sensations that were really bothersome. Maybe if you attach it from the inside also, vitamin e ,lots of water. It's so hard because sometimes you have to do several things for improvement but it's still there. Praying it gets better
