5 months agoI am 5 years out from my DCIS diagnosis. Is anyone having difficulty with Lymphedema? I had a lumpectomy/radiation/1.5 years on Anastrazole and 2.5 years on Letrozole. I am interested if anyone has developed Lymphedema along the way and what your experience and treatment is.
Accepted Answer
Lymphedema can develop months or even years after breast cancer treatment, so asking about this at the 5-year mark is very understandable. Many community members have shared their experiences with managing lymphedema after similar treatments, and connecting with others who understand this concern can provide valuable insights and support.

5 months agoHello Marsha, I did develop lymphedema along the way after all of my treatments were done. I wasn't sure what was going on until my arms were measured. Removal of lymph nodes does that to your body. I eventually got help from a lymphatic specialist. The treatments were massages and targeting those areas where you have your lymph nodes (massage). They taught me what to do, and I did them at home. I also researched and found that getting on a trampoline, which is now being called a rebounder, helps move your lymphatic system. I also wore a compression sleeve and bra at times. The bra is definitely uncomfortable, but the sleeve is tolerable for me, at least. Hope this helps. All the best!
