Has Letrozole alone been effective for shrinking breast cancer tumors?

I’m tolerating Letrozole very well & my tumor is shrinking. Has anyone used this type of treatment with Letrozole only along with monitoring to shrink tumor enough so the cancer will not spread? Or has anyone used Letrozole to aid in the tumor shrinkage? Does anyone know where I can be monitored with Ultrasound imaging only? Want to skip the mammogram since my ILC does not show on it. After 5 annual mammograms without any evidence, I felt the cancer myself. The surgeon said I probably have had my cancer for 4-5 yrs. About the same time I began receiving annual mammograms. How did you gals with ILC (the sneaky cancer) discover your cancer?

Many patients have found Letrozole helpful for tumor reduction, and it's encouraging that you're tolerating it well and seeing positive results. Your experience with ILC not showing on mammograms is shared by many others in this community - ultrasound and MRI are often more effective for detecting this type of cancer, so discussing imaging options with your medical team makes sense. Other members here have valuable insights about monitoring approaches and their own discovery stories with ILC that could be really helpful to hear.

I was flipping my mattress and felt something weird. Had been getting mammograms regularly. Including one 5 months before and no one caught it.

Do you get 3D mammograms?

Yes, 3 D. ILC did not show up on any 5 annual mammograms until over 2cm. At 2.4cm only the tip lights up on my mammogram. Want tracking to determine if Letrozole is working by non-invasive ultrasounds where ILC shows up fine, but they are forcing mammograms on me as well. I am refusing the mammograms, therefore they will withhold my medication which I think is very uncaring. I will die at the hands of the medical field. This is why it is said that our medical system is not health care, but sick care. The patient should have rights as to preference of testing. My body & I am responsible for the co-pay.
