7 hours agoI’ve just had a single mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. My first cave was stage 2 and I had a lumpectomy, CMF chemo and radiation followed by 10 years of Anastrozole. My recent Cancer was stage 1 b grade 2. My Oncotype dx score is 35 and my oncologist has suggested that my treatment should include AC chemo. I’m very concerned about the potential for heart damage as a result of the Red Devil infusions. Does anyone know of any equally effective chemo regimen that isn’t as toxic or know of any medication that could mitigate the potential of cardio vascular damages?

2 hours agoYour concerns about cardiotoxicity with AC chemotherapy are completely understandable, especially when facing treatment decisions for a recurrence. Many patients share similar worries about the "Red Devil" and its potential heart effects. While there are alternative chemotherapy regimens and cardioprotective strategies that oncologists sometimes consider, these decisions depend heavily on individual factors like your specific tumor characteristics, overall health, and treatment history. This would be a great discussion to have with your oncology team about exploring options that balance effectiveness with your safety concerns - they may be able to discuss alternatives or protective measures that could address your specific situation.
