14 days agoI've had a lumphectomy 2 months but can't afford my radiation treatments. Can someone yell me what I can do.

13 days agoMany cancer treatment centers offer financial assistance programs, payment plans, or can connect you with organizations that help cover radiation costs. Contact your hospital's financial counselor or social worker right away - they often know about resources and programs specifically for patients in your situation. There are also national organizations that provide grants for cancer treatment expenses, so don't give up on getting the care you need.

5 days agoMary I am so sorry that you have to deal with this stressor on top of what you are going through..I can’t believe our healthcare system! It angers me that this country has come to this. As if cancer isn’t enough!? I think that anyone who is facing a life threatening illness or disease should not have to worry about how they are going to pay for treatments! I’m so sorry you are facing such a difficult time let alone trying to manage how to pay for your treatments. I’ve never heard of such a thing! I would definitely reach out to the hospital counselor for resources and I would also reach out to your community. I have Medicaid thankfully that covered all my surgeries and radiation treatments, I also have a wonderful community who helps raise awareness and funds for cancer for those who need help. My community called and asked me what they could help me with, they can provide any kind of assistance such as helping you pay your bills if you’re unable to work, buy you groceries, etc. I ended up getting $500 in gas cards since my radiologist was an hour away it helped tremendously especially with gas prices the way they are. I’m not sure if your community does something like this and if not reach out to non profits or local charities/churches That is just some resources that I can think of that could possibly help take that burden away you have enough to worry about and I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. Good luck and God bless 🙏

2 days agoMary, I was thrown into cancer care quickly because of the aggressive nature of mine. Didn't think about deductibles, medicines or bills I would get until I was well into it...then one day someone told me my copay was $350 every time I went into the center for anything. I go once every 3 weeks for chemo, and every Monday and Thursday for hydration...about 9 copays a month. I was devastated! I know I have to do my treatments but why does this have to financially ruin my family? Then this angel on Earth, Patty, in my oncology dept got me some grants for the drugs, assistance for copays and help with other things that pop up. We have a very small but mighty cancer help organization locally. All of my friends and relatives are using their birthdays on Facebook to raise money for them, to help give back for me. It's amazing, and there is help out there...it's just not usually the ones you see nationally. Go local💜 I hope this helps
