2 years agoSo I’m new here also. I found out I had breast cancer 6/16/2023. Had both breast removed 9/1/2023. Had a pet scan done 10/11/2023 they found 2 spots on my thyroid. Had a ultrasound & on a scale of1 being not looking like cancer & 5 highly suspicious of cancer. I scored a 5. Has anyone else had cancer found that wasn’t breast cancer at the same time as the breast cancer?
Accepted Answer
Finding additional cancer during breast cancer treatment does happen to some patients, and it can feel overwhelming to face multiple diagnoses at once. Many community members have shared similar experiences of discovering secondary cancers through the scans and tests that are part of breast cancer care. Having a supportive community during this challenging time can make a real difference, and hopefully others here will share their experiences with managing multiple cancer diagnoses.

6 months agoHi Beckie. I just wanted to share that I did. I had a biopsy on both my Thyroid and Breast March 2023 and both came back confirmed for Cancer. My bilateral mastectomy was in May and I had my Thyroid removed in July of this year. The doctors determined it was two separate Cancers that grew at the same time.

6 months agoAubree I have had my thyroid removed. December 6th was the date. I was just wondering how you are doing Physically and mentally? I have had some really bad days with depression and anxiety. Was just wondering If you had any. I know the fast track through the change is to blame for some of it. If its not to much trouble just let me know you’re okay. Thanks. My prayers are with you.

6 months agoHi Beckie. I'm so sorry to hear you are experiencing some depression and anxiety. I too have struggled with some depression and anxiety. I am just ready to start my Breast reconstruction journey and for me I know that is a big part the emotional roller coaster I feel like I'm riding most days. I will say now that I am almost 6 months post Thyroid removal my medicine dosage has been adjusted some and it has made a difference for me. Thank you for the prayers. Sending them your way as well.

6 months agoWas there a reason the thyroid was scanned? I’ve had hot flashes for 15 years now and wonder if something else isn’t causing these.

6 months agoI just got diagnosed with invasive ductal cancer HR2 I have been having hot flashes and sweating. I am 69 and didn't have them till months ago Is it the can er?
Community Member
6 months agoNot sure. But are you taking aramatase inhibitors? Or tamoxifen? I think these can cause hot flashes. Cancer treatment usually affects hormones so maybe ask one of your doctors?
