Nerve pain in the breast area is something that many people in this community have experienced, and it's completely understandable to seek support from others who might relate. These sensations can be concerning and uncomfortable, so talking with your healthcare team about what you're experiencing can help provide clarity and potential management options. Hopefully others here will share their experiences and you'll find the support and information you're looking for.

My oncologist calls the nerves the “jerks” (as in idiots) of the body. I still get terrible pain in my breast.

Thank you my Dr said they might go away, or not. That’s not to good since when I have them they will take my breath away

Sometimes. My surgeon said it’s normal.

It's so crazy that the surgeons say pain is normal. There are new techniques that some surgeons are doing where they preserve and repair nerves instead of just letting women be in pain sometimes forever

Yes, I do it's a burning itching tingling. Sometimes feel like stabbing needles. when I talk to my reconstructed doctor about it. He told me that that will happen for the first. Maybe 1 to 2 years and then it'll go away. But I can say it has eased up a lot best of luck to you. Hope this help.

I get the pings, but have not had reconstruction yet. I was told it would come and go and is different for everyone. The doc suggested some gentle massage to help. I use aquaphor daily for the dry skin and it seems to help. I notice more pings if I go a few days without doing this.

Brenda, I also had annoying nerve pain in my breasts post op double mastectomies with skin and nipple sparing reconstructions with saline implants. All surgeries done once… I was prescribed Neurontin/ Gabapentin temporary for the pain and special support surgical bras. That was very helpful. I’m on radiation now, after a full year of chemo, hopefully preventative. Best wishes… the pain should stop as nerve endings heal and I actually have most normal feeling back.
