a month agoLooking to connect with cancer patients. I’m newly diagnosed with ductus carcinoma in situ, I’m currently going to multiple clinics appointments. I have surgery scheduled for double mastectomy in 11/3/25. Can you tell me what to expect. Please.

Facing a double mastectomy can feel overwhelming, and it's completely natural to want to know what lies ahead on this journey. This community has many members who have walked similar paths and can share their experiences about recovery, what helped them prepare, and how they navigated the process - their insights could be incredibly valuable as you approach your surgery date.

a month agoI had ductal carcinoma in situ last year. Did not have mastectomy though. Had a lumpectomy followed by 4 weeks radiation and now am taking endocrine therapy for a total of 5 years.

25 days agoI had a double mastectomy. If everything goes smooth, the procedure is tolerable. I made some hair appointments to have my hair washed and dried and it was a life saver. We bought a cheap rolling hospital table for our bedroom which was very helpful as well. Best of luck to you! 🩷

9 days agoI am on anastrozole. I am toughing out some increased joint pain right now. Saw oncology 2 weeks ago and they said if it doesn’t improve i could do a “washout” and restart with a different AI.

8 days agoI had a lumpectomy and onco plastic breast reduction in both breasts on 10/28. I am astonished at how good I feel, no pain and I can move around freely. I have to really remember to honor my restrictions!!! While I didn’t have full mastectomy, I hope this can give you some hope and comfort that the process is not as scary as it seems.
