3 weeks ago I had zometa infusion that took 1 hr. I have invasive lobular and DCIS in left breast. Zometa supposed to help with bone loss from AI and slight prevention for cancer return. The other day..about 3 weeks after infusion ... my ankles swelled..pitting edema .actually entire foot and slightly up legs with putting edema. My bones have started aching in legs also have also been on letrozole for 8 months. I don't know what is happening. I have never had swollen ankles in my life..anyone ever had this..tks for listening!

What you're experiencing sounds concerning and definitely warrants a conversation with your medical team. While some patients do report various side effects after infusions, sudden swelling with pitting edema and new bone pain should be evaluated promptly by your healthcare provider. Many others in this community have navigated similar questions about treatment side effects, so hopefully others will share their experiences with you as well.

I would talk to your doctor. Do you have high blood pressure? My blood pressure changed after diagnosis. Also, make sure you drink at least 64 oz of water daily. AIs can cause dehydration and kidney issues.

I have been on Tamoxifen for 5 years. Have had swollen ankles and feet ever since. At first i could not wear my shoes. Its a little better now. I can wear my shoes, but cannot zip anything all the way. I refuse to buy bigger size’s. I am going to get off this poison some day. Taking black seed oil and soursop oil along with it. I see oncologist next month. Im going off i have been on it 5 years now. I would like to feel normal again.
