6 days agoWill be starting Chemo after I get a port. The treatment will result in hair loss. What do I need to plan for with that? What did you do? Any tips or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

6 days agoI had stylist give me a buzz cut once my hair started falling out (about 2 weeks after the first dose). Made it easier on me as the rest fell out. I just did hats and scarves and my bald head. No wigs for me. Take card of your scalp, moisturize and keep it healthy. My hsir actually started to come back once i was on paclitaxel. Once chemo is over use nioxin shampoo. It really helped my hair come back quickly.

6 days agoHair loss is one of the most common concerns when starting chemotherapy, and it's completely understandable to want to prepare for this change. Many patients find it helpful to consider options like getting a shorter haircut beforehand, looking into head coverings such as scarves, hats, or wigs, and having gentle shampoos ready for when hair starts to regrow. The timing and extent can vary depending on the specific treatment, so discussing this with the care team can provide more personalized guidance about what to expect and when it might begin.

5 days agoI had it shaved once it started falling off. My mom shaved it for me. I thought I would be very emotional shaving it off but it actually felt good and I was smiling and happy after that. You will loose eyelashes and eyebrows at around halfway of the treatment. I had AC and Taxol carboplatin combination 4+4 cycles, total 8 for tnbc stage 2a treatment. I am in my 30s. I have 2 more chemo left. Youve got this!!! Good luck!!!

3 days agoIf I had it to do over, I would have not purchased a wig. It was fairly expensive, and I found it itchy and less comfortable than my hats and head coverings. Do what feels right for you.
