16 days agoMy oncologist ordered a DexA scan 12 months after my primary ordered one: the results were negative for osteoporosis. However, my orthopedic specialist discovered that I had osteoarthritis 3 months ago and prescribed Meloxicam. It only took my oncologist 10 months to prescribe Letrozole, after I had received adjuvant chemo prior to one surgery last year and 12 rounds of chemo following surgery for Stage II breast cancer. Has anyone else been prescribed Letrozole?
Accepted Answer
Letrozole is commonly prescribed as part of hormone therapy treatment for certain types of breast cancer, so you're definitely not alone in this experience. Many members of this community have navigated similar treatment paths and understand the journey you're describing with the various medications and monitoring that comes with breast cancer care. Your experience with the coordination between different specialists and the timeline of treatments might resonate with others here who could share their own insights about managing multiple aspects of post-treatment care.

15 days agoThat's so true - Letrozole is definitely a common part of the hormone therapy journey for many of us here, and it might be worth asking your care team about how they're coordinating the osteoarthritis treatment with your cancer care since you're managing both now.

15 days agoI completely agree - you're definitely not alone with Letrozole, and it might also be worth asking your oncologist how they plan to monitor your bone health going forward since you mentioned the osteoarthritis diagnosis.

13 days agoYes, I was started on letrozole and verzenio. I knew after 2 months that I could not tolerate letrozole, and was put on tamoxifen. The joint pain was not as severe, but the insomnia was every bit as bad. I stopped all endocrine therapy and am just doing targeted therapy and the metabolic diet.

13 days agoSo far I have not encountered any side effects from Letrozole or Meloxicam. I hope to report positive news at my next follow-up appointment.
