a year agoI just went through a PET Scan. I see my oncologist this Thursday to find out the results.

Waiting for scan results can feel overwhelming, and it's completely natural to feel anxious during this time. Many people in this community understand the challenge of sitting with uncertainty between medical appointments. Consider reaching out to others here who have been through similar experiences - their support and perspective might help you feel less alone while you wait for Thursday.

6 months agoThe PET scan will identify spots in your body where cancer resides. Your report will probably have numbers assigned to each spot. The numbers refer to the density of each spot (I used to think they referred to the SIZE of the tumor). I don't know where you are in your treatment, but I have scans every six months so my oncologist can review my medication and see if it's still effective. If your hospital has My Chart or some type of access to your report, read it and do your best to understand it. DO NOT become alarmed by it. It's a technical report and that can be frightening. It's one more tool for your oncologist to use to make your treatment more effective. Let me know what happens; I'm here for you!

6 months agoMy oncologist is trying to get a PET scan set up for me before we start my chemotherapy, there are 3 other spots we know about. So he wants to see if there are more and decide if we start chemotherapy and radiation or attack another spot first. My surgery was done 3 weeks ago and now I am on pause

6 months agoUnfortunately, some of that pause might be caused by your insurance company. They like things is a certain order and can be rigid. Spend the time with family and breathing. 💖

6 months agoArden, When I had my initial PET scan I was naive. It came back with 2 additional tumors. I went for biopsies and was then dx with 2 separate cancers. The bc had not spread, I had bc, lung cancer and kidney cancer. I am thankful for the findings as the lung cancer is now gone, I'm having a lumpectomy tomorrow, then radiation and then kidney removal. My 2nd PET scan showed the arimidex is working as my bc tumor shrunk 1 cm. It is tough waiting and hearing the results. Remember this is a journey. Janet the Unicorn
