Are lumps and scar tissue after lumpectomy and radiation normal?

Hi all! I had a lumpectomy in February 2025, followed by 19 rounds of radiation. I had a big hematoma after the surgery and lumps and bumps. Now, these lumps have gotten to the point that they are uncomfortable with arm movement. I had a screening mammogram in July and all was good. I had an ultrasound this passed week and the radiologist recommended a diagnostic mammogram because he couldn’t tell if there might be malignancy. Anyone else have this scar tissue?

Scar tissue and lumps after lumpectomy and radiation are quite common experiences that many people in this community share. It's encouraging that the July mammogram showed good results, and getting the recommended diagnostic mammogram will help provide clarity about what's causing the discomfort with arm movement. Many others here have navigated similar post-treatment changes and may have helpful insights to share about their experiences with scar tissue formation.

I had DMX in August 2024 followed by chemo and radiation. I couldn't "feel " the original lump which makes me super paranoid about the scar tissue. Because yes, it's lumpy and bumpy. But I am meeting with all of my doctors regularly and making sure that they feel the areas each time to make sure that it's normal.

Me yes and get a prescription for Physical Therapist to work on scar tissue. Do not have another mammogram that causes more insult. Go to PT.
