5 months agoI everyone. I am on Anastrozole for 5 yrs for breast cancer. I had oncoplastic breast reduction and 31 days of radiation. I have been experiencing a burning pain in the upper muscle of my right arm. Could this be a side effect of Anastrozole? This started two weeks ago. I have been applying bio-freeze which helps but symptom is not going away. I have been taking Anastrozole for seven months now.

Muscle and joint pain, including burning sensations, can be side effects that some people experience with aromatase inhibitors like anastrozole, though it's important to discuss any new or persistent pain with your oncology team to rule out other causes. Many patients in the breast cancer community have found relief through various approaches, so sharing your experience here could help others who might be dealing with similar symptoms.

5 months agoI'm not a medical professional, but the burning pain in your arm could be related to the radiation. The radiation sometimes causes issues depending what it was targeting and/or for how long and how strong the radiation treatments were. I had issues with my esophagus after I had radiation to my spine. Ask you radiation oncologist or your cancer oncologist. Btw, thanks for bringing up the subject because I have sensation problems in my left arm after I had radiation. I'll check with my oncologist too. The treatments for breast cancer are strong and the medications have severe side effects that can make you sick. However, I rather go through all these things than being dead. Just hang in there, ask questions, and continue to post here.

5 months agoMy left breast was radiated. It is my right arm that is affected. It would seem my left arm should be the one affected? Thank you for your advice.

5 months agoI suggest you read the side effects of Anastrozole. These medications have severe and wicket side effects at the strangest parts of the human body. Sometimes, the longer you take a medication, the worse or more intense the side effects. Talk to your care team, and be persistent. You are your best advocate when it comes to your body. Good luck
