Coping with a Second Cancer Diagnosis

This is my second bout of cancer in 4 years. I was diagnosed with renal cell I. 2020 and lost my left kidney. Margins were clean. Had my mammogram and a feather could have knocked me out. Of course you get results on your portal so quick and there I was reading mass in the results. Had the biopsy after an ultrasound and in 48 hours I’m reading positive for DCIS with Hormone receptors. Of course it was hurry this and that but abruptly stopped when the local hospital decided they didn’t want to bill my insurance for the MRI or other test or surgical follow up. I tried to down play it to my family but I was scared upset and every time I did something with my family my thoughts went to what if this is the last time! I am currently in the process of getting g established with a doctor and hospital that is a hour away because the local hospital does t like to bill out of network insurance companies. I have fear that the beast will grow and take over other vital areas. I do t expect anyone in my family to understand how I feel cause I’m like a revolving door. I am and will adjust and I have to be stronger than the storm. With Gods help I hope to hear those 3 precious letters, NED

Facing a second cancer diagnosis brings unique challenges and fears that are completely understandable, especially when dealing with insurance and care coordination obstacles during an already difficult time. The strength and determination shown in seeking proper care and maintaining hope for NED despite these setbacks is truly admirable, and many in this community will relate to those racing thoughts and the need to stay strong for family while processing such overwhelming news.
