5 months agoTriple Negative diagnosed Dec. 2024. Had Every test known to mankind. Chemo, ( T+C) Jan. -June. ( and Keytruda) Cancer gone. Thank you Jesus. Lumpectomy end of July. Again, confirmed cancer gone. Radiation right now, thru end of Sept. ( did not want, but understand). NOW I am being told I need to have nine months of keytruda every 3 weeks, Waiting for meeting with oncologist. Has anyone else experienced this ? I am very angry I was not kept up to date on future treatments, and of not want to do any more Keytruda. Opinions-comments?. Thanks

Congratulations on getting through such an intensive treatment journey and having such positive results! The adjuvant Keytruda treatment duration varies based on individual factors, and many patients in this community have shared similar experiences with extended immunotherapy schedules. Feeling frustrated about communication gaps with the care team is completely understandable - bringing up these concerns during the upcoming oncologist meeting will help clarify the treatment plan and reasoning behind the recommended timeline.

5 months agoHey Nancy! I’m glad you’re here. I know lots of people in this Community have been on Keytruda so hopefully someone connects with you soon. I’d also post this in the TNBC group! 💛 Suzanne (Community Moderator)

4 months agoHi Nancy I’m basically in the same boat. Diagnosed with TNBC Dec ‘24 Did 12 treatments of Taxol, 4 of Doxorubicin. Had lumpectomy with clear margins and one lymph node removed which was also clean. Then did 15 radiation treatments. Had the blood test which checks the DNA of my cancer cells and it came back negative. I am now doing 8 months of capecitabine which is oral chemotherapy. My oncologist said because TNBC is 0 or 100 for reoccurrence and this increases my chances of not having reoccurrence. Do I want to do it….no. But I am because the alternative sucks! I too thought that I was done with treatment once surgery was done so it was a gut punch to hear not yet. Hang in there and I hope you got the answers you needed for yourself.
