a month agoTomorrow will be exactly two weeks from the day I had my last radiation on my right breast. My breast and underarm didn't truly start turning dark until toward the end of treatment. My underarm is still peeling even though I am using what my radiologist gave me. Is this normal?

a month agoSkin reactions like peeling can continue for several weeks after radiation treatment ends, as the skin needs time to heal and regenerate. Many patients experience ongoing peeling and darkening in the treated area, especially in sensitive spots like the underarm, even when using prescribed care products. It's encouraging that you're staying consistent with the products your radiologist recommended, and reaching out to your radiation team with any concerns about your healing progress can provide additional peace of mind.

22 days agoI finished radiation 3 weeks ago. I had the same thing. Towards the end my breast turned red. Then got really dark and I am still peeling breast and underarm. Very sensitive skin right now but it seems to be getting better.

7 days agoHello Valarie I too didn’t notice my skin getting irritated until after radiation it was red, irritated and itchy!! I used aquaphor which is really thick and will stain your bras & clothes but gave some relief, I also used raw coconut oil and that helped as well I bought an ice pack off Amazon that’s actually for breast feeding, it’s round and fits right in the bra that also helped me tremendously! I was having radiation then going to work afterwards if I got sweaty it would burn a little so between the ointments and ice pack it brought some relief Hope this helps and God bless you 🙏

7 days agoI had radiation twice . The first time I had second burns . The Dr. looked at gave me antibiotics and a pain pill. This time around it burned my esophagus . It took almost a month before I could solid food. Even drinking was ruff. Right now I’m back on chemo for now.

7 days agoI’m so sorry..When my mom had that issue the doctor gave her “magic mouthwash “ I’m hoping that they gave that to you..If you don’t mind sharing what type and stage of cancer are you dealing with? Breast? I’m just curious because when I had radiation on my breast, they had me lay on my stomach with my breast hanging through a hole and told me that the radiation is just going through my breast.

7 days agoHi both times I never had that. Both times I was on my back. The first was 13 yrs ago and I had to go for 6 weeks. I went 8 yrs. clear and a pet-scan done and my spine lit up. So here we went all over again. This time it’s 5 yrs. that I’m dealing with this. Now I am estrogen positive and mantastic breast cancer and spread to the bones in my back. I’m back on chemo trying to target the tumor and irritation. I have to go every weeks for the infusion. Anyway tell me more about urself. I’m Mary write me anytime.😘

7 days agoRight now unfortunately because the cancer is in my bones in the back and my back is bad I’m having a lot of pain. It’s horrible. I hardly ever go out and we’re trying to move. I live 2 mins from Hard Rock in Fl. and we’re moving to Naples hopefully soon. Well I hope u all feel better and keep in touch. I was stage 4 when I started 13 yrs. ago cause it spread to lymph nodes. So u can say I’m still stage 4 . Be well and stay safe❤️
