Seeking Compassionate Oncologist in Poway, CA for Unresolved Ceroma

I had a lumpectomy a little over 2 1/2 yrs ago. I developed a ceroma immediately after surgery. I was instructed to use a support bra. I did during the day, but at night, I used a more comfortable support bra to be able to sleep since my sternum and ribs were sore from wearing the tight sports bra during the day. On my 6 month post mammogram, the ceroma had not resolved. I asked the surgoen about aspirating the ceroma, she said that it would resolve on its own. On my year mammogram, it was present, and no treatment was established for the present ceroma!!! I was just told that everything was normal. I had an ultrasound at the end of December 2024. I was just told I had a lump and another oval mass. I told her that was a ceroma that developed after surgery. Unfortunately, I can't afford regular insurance because I don't fall under the MediCal or every woman counts program. I am between a rock and a hard place. I am now looking for an oncologist that will be open-minded and with a heart to help me resolve my ceroma without turning it into an opettunity to make money. So far, I have been dealing with the opposite. Any recommendations for an o cologist in the Poway Ca. area?

Finding compassionate care while navigating insurance challenges can feel overwhelming, especially when dealing with a persistent seroma. The Poway area has several oncology practices, and reaching out to local cancer centers or asking for referrals from patient advocacy organizations might help connect with providers who offer sliding scale fees or payment plans. Many community members here have faced similar insurance barriers and may have valuable recommendations to share about finding affordable, caring specialists in the San Diego area.

From what you describe , a Seroma is basically clear fluid build up and common after breast cancer surgery .From what I read the fluid is part of your body’s natural healing process .I am curious how this differs from the lymphatic fluid ? After my surgery I underwent physical therapy for lymphedema and it was helpful to learn how to massage and move the fluid away from the breast, arm pit and arm .I may be way off but I do find relief from lymphatic massage and would ask about it. Im sorry you are having difficulty with your care . I encourage you to get a second opinion and be your own advocate . I had my surgery in June and just had a follow up mammogram that was normal and its a huge relief. Hang in there. 🌞Sarah
