a month agoI’ve been on tamoxifen for a year now. A few months in, my periods went from a 24 day cycle for 4 days, down to a 31 day cycle for 3 days…. I thought it as just going to continue to lessen my period, however this past month it jumped back up to a 24 day cycle for 4 days and heavy and painful. Prior to tamoxifen I always averaged 24 days for 4 days. I’m now worried the tamoxifen isn’t working? Anyone else experience this?

a month agoMenstrual cycle changes are a common side effect of tamoxifen, and fluctuations in cycle length and flow can happen throughout treatment rather than following a predictable pattern. These variations don't necessarily indicate that the medication isn't working effectively - tamoxifen's cancer-fighting benefits work differently than its effects on menstrual cycles. It's completely understandable to feel concerned about these changes, so discussing them with your oncologist can provide reassurance and help determine if any monitoring or adjustments are needed.
