Breast Cancer Update: Good News and Goodbye

I went to see my breast surgeon yesterday . She gave me my pathology report, checked the surgical site, and told me I would now be handed over to a genetic oncologist. After getting home, she called me to tell me the scores had come in, mine was a 17, no chemo needed, we got all the cancer. She said she couldn't make me wait until May 1st when I would meet with the oncologist she wanted me to know. So, as my grandson says when he's done with something, Bye,bye. Yes cancer, bye, bye! Amen!

What wonderful news to celebrate! Getting clear pathology results and avoiding chemotherapy represents such a positive milestone in this journey. The caring gesture from the surgeon to call with results early shows the compassion that makes such a difference during treatment. This kind of good news brings hope to others in the community who may be facing similar decisions about their care. Wishing continued healing and strength as the next phase begins with the genetic oncologist.
