I asked my oncologist about immunotherapy for colon cancer. She told me there was 1 available for a certain variety and it has been found to be successful. Unfortunately the variety I have is not that variety

It's understandably disappointing to learn that the immunotherapy option your oncologist mentioned isn't suitable for your specific type of colorectal cancer. The landscape of immunotherapy treatments continues to evolve, and researchers are actively working on expanding options for different cancer types and genetic profiles. Consider discussing with your oncologist whether there might be clinical trials available that could be relevant to your situation, as these sometimes offer access to newer treatments being studied.

I had my DNA done five years ago. Tellmegen, the company is based in Spain and they constantly update the info. There are two families of chemo that can cause cardiotoxicity among other serious adverse events. I have the CYP2D6 gene making me an intermediate metabolizer of opioids among many drugs. I only metabolize 25% of the opioids I take and thus need high doses which docs do not want to write for, cancer or not. I also cannot take antidepressants, stations, antipsychotics, anti inflammatories which I already know about, I am deathly allergic to aspirin Who knew our genes cosplay such a big role when it comes to pharmacogenetic, a growing and very important field more docs must get on board with.
