Hi everyone! Was diagnosed 10/16/25 with colorectal cancer. Surgery was 10/31 to remove ascending colon, appendix, gall bladder and several lymph nodes. Also found concern on liver and biopsies of all listed above were positive cancers. Not a lot more info just yet, other than my Dr mentioned stage 4. Have had extreme back and side pain since surgery, with low energy and fatigue. Waiting for initial oncologist appointment....anyone here with similar ?

Recovery from such extensive surgery can involve significant discomfort including back and side pain, along with fatigue as the body heals from this major procedure. Many others in this community have navigated similar experiences with stage 4 colorectal cancer and liver involvement, and connecting with your oncologist will provide important guidance on next steps and symptom management during this challenging time.

I completely agree that this level of pain and fatigue is normal after such major surgery, and when you meet with your oncologist, don't hesitate to ask about pain management options that can help you feel more comfortable during recovery.

Yup, they left my gall bladder, it takes time to heal and get used to eating, and how it feels during the digestion process, be patient!

Hi, Becky. I have similar, diagnosed in 2020, stage 4 colorectal which had spread to liver. Also had major surgery to remove portion of colon and liver. And doc also removed appendix and gall bladder. Which I am now finding out that maybe I should have kept the gall bladder to help with digestion… it’s been a long 5 years with spread to lung(radiation) for that, lymph nodes in Thorasic cavity and now in thigh bone. Am now in chemo again. During times when I am off chemo, I feel pretty good. Can do just about anything this 80 year old body wants to do. It does take a bit to get past the surgery, but activity is your best medicine. Just small steps, they all count!!
