Does tamoxifen cause breast throbbing near DCIS tumor?

In treatment for DCIS breast cancer diagnosed on 1/23/26. Surgery tentatively scheduled for March 25, 2026. I’ve been taking tamoxifen for over a week now & I’m noticing a dull throbbing after I take it in my breast where my encapsulated tumor is. The throb is to the left of my tumor. No other symptoms. I’m calling my care team tomorrow (hopefully they are there on a Sunday). I take my pill in the evening & I don’t know if it will subside tomorrow or not. Still freaking out a bit cuz I live alone and this all scares me. But I’m holding it together the best way I know how to. Lots of laughs and support that I’m grateful for. Anyone else experience this? Thank you.

Should I take tamoxifen after DCIS lumpectomy at 64?

I had DCIS in SITU grade 1. I had a lumpectomy in December (very easy recovery- I had my surgery on Friday and went back to work on Monday) and start radiation next month (March). I'm not sure yet for how many weeks. My oncologist wants to start me on tamoxifen after that. I had clean margins and my cancer is considered non-invasive. I'm 64 and menopausal so I know tamoxifen is recommended more for pre-menopausal women. But I feel tamoxifen is a better option if I take anything. And I'm wondering about taking anything. I have to work (I'm single now and support myself). I can't take a medication that will affect my ability to work. I'd appreciate hearing from others regarding medication, any side effects from tamoxifen and if you decided not to take medication what was your reasoning for that. TIA.

How has your experience been with anastrozole for breast cancer?

I have hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer and I'm postmenopausal. My doctor prescribed anastrozole to help block estrogen production since estrogen can fuel this type of cancer. I understand this medication works by reducing estrogen that any remaining cancer cells might use to grow. My doctor mentioned possible side effects like hot flashes, joint pain, and bone changes, and that they'll monitor my bone density while I'm on it. I'd love to connect with others who have a similar diagnosis and treatment plan. Still sore over a year after breast cancer surgery - is this normal?

Hi, everyone. I’ve had this app for awhile just haven’t written anything. I was operated on November 28 , 2024. I just had a small lump. They also removed lymph nodes but it had not spread. I did radiation for about a month. Then I started the 5 year pill. I’m supposed to get another mammogram this week but been sick so I might change it. I’ve had one mammogram since surgery, only side that was operated on. This time will be both sides. It’s been over a year, still sore hope goes away soon. Did anyone else get diarrhea from their first letrozole pill?

Just took my 1st pill of letrozole.I was told that breast cancer could return.In my case it was a 6 _8percent chance.If I take this medicine it would drop to a 2 percent likelihood of it returning somewhere in my body.It does not let estrogen bind w a cancer cell.My immediate side effect was diahrea Did anyone else experience this?

How to connect with local cancer support groups when they don't respond?

Has anyone else had problems connecting with local cancer support groups? I’ve called the Cancer Support Community several times and emailed other groups but never get a response. This group seems helpful, but local sources and recommendations would be even better. Anyone had trouble making such connections or ideas on what to do? Thanks

Did radiation boosts to the breast make anyone else feel terrible?

Did radiation boosts (left breast ) kick anyone else’s butt like it is mine? Feel like I got hit by a truck I’m only 2 of 5 boosts in. 🤷‍♀️

Severe foot and leg bone pain after first Taxotere treatment - advice?

I had my 1st treatment for breast cancer last Tuesday (1/21/26) Taxotere, Herceptin and Perjeta Regimen. Tolerated it ok, Except that the pain is excruciating in my feet, ankles and lower legs. Tylenol hasn't touched it. Arnica oil usually helps, but not today. Anyone else have experience with this type of bone pain? Not soft tissue. Also, I do take cymbalta for fibromyalgia. It doesn't seem to help. Thanks!
