Has anyone done Irinotecan/Cetuximab for Stage 4 CRC?

This treatment combination is used for stage 4 colorectal cancer, and community members here may have experience with these medications that they can share. The fear about side effects after a difficult previous treatment experience is completely understandable, and many others in this community have navigated similar treatment decisions and concerns. What they dont tell you about 5-FU is stay away from folate - it's added to everything from rice to whatever. It enhances the toxicity of 5-FU.

Patricia thank you for the info. You're correct. And they purposefully give you folate in the form of leucovorin during treatment. I wouldn't think trace amounts in food would add that much toxicity unless you took folic acid supplements. But studies do show a possible link between toxicity and high pretreatment serum folate levels. I'm not sure they ever checked that in me but maybe they should have.
