Why isn't radiation used for fallopian tube cancer treatment?

I was diagnosed with stage IIIC serous carcinoma of fallopian tubes in January of 2025. I underwent chemo, radical hysterectomy, more chemo and now currently on Avastin. This last week my blood results showed a rise of my PSA (6 to 13 since Oct) and my Natera blood draw was positive for my cancer dna in my blood (it was negative in Oct). So, now I have another ct scan before my next visit in March. I am not sure if I have symptoms because I am not really sure what my new normal is supposed to be since having hysterectomy. I do not have the complaints that I had when i first went to the doctor in Dec of 2024 (bloating and constipation). At one point I was so bloated I looked 8 months pregnant. I have many aches and pains that vary from day to day. I have some fatigue but nothing overly concerning. Of course I would dread doing chemo again but I know chemo worked. One thing I wonder about is why radiation isn’t considered for our type of cancer? Not that radiation is wonderful just curious about it. Anyway, I have a great care team and so far my insurance has been wonderful as well and my out of pocket has not been too bad. Anyway, happy to connect with others and just hear what others are experiencing.

Has anyone gone through carboplatin desensitization after allergic reaction?

Diagnosis 3b ovarian cancer 8/2025. I had allergic reaction to CARBOplatin on my 12th weekly infusion. Tomorrow is the desensitization process with 8hours of dosing beginning with anti-allergy meds and a very small CARBOplatin dose. If no allergic reaction the dose size will increase over the day. Has anyone had this challenge?

Has anyone experienced cataracts from Elahere treatment for ovarian cancer?

Hi everyone! I was diagnosed with high grade serous stage 4B ovarian cancer in Jan 2023. Had major debulking surgery in Feb for 12 hrs. Had hysterectomy, omentum, gall bladder, spleen, 27” intestines all removed, several lymph nodes, parts of my liver and right diaphragm removed. Next Had taxol &Carboplatin for 6 cycles. Cancer returned 5 months later and was on doxil for 4 cycles. Four months later again my CA level on the rise so was on Elahere for 8 cycles. Elahere causes corneal inflammation and subsides but about the 8 cycle my eyes didn’t recover. Took a long time. Now I find out I have a cataract in both eyes due to the Elahere. So going to see a cataract surgeon. Now been on Carboplatin and gemcitabine for 3 cycles. Seems to be working as my CA LEVEL is slowly coming down. From what I was told I will need to be on medication for the rest of my life however long or short that may be. However, GOD is my strength! Without Him I wouldn’t be here.

How do you cope when cancer treatment complications keep piling up?

I am 50yrs old. Diagnosed 4/24/24 with IVA HGSOC. I underwent 3 rounds of carbo/taxol/Avastin (held Avastin prior to surgery), hysterectomy with omenectomy, then 3 more rounds of the same. I was in remission and on maintenance Avastin until late June when my CA125 started rising without symptoms. I had a CT, PET & MRI without any findings of cancer....unfortunately mid October I developed a small bowel obstruction from an obstructing hernia. When they went in they saw multiple seedlings which came back positive for cancer. Sadly I ended up with another obstruction because of cancer basically clamping the bowel shut, then ended up with a temporary ileostomy. Sent home but without antibiotics for cellulitis which unfortunately turned into a huge abdominal infection requiring 2 I&D's. I now have an open abdominal wound and right flank wound that I am doing twice daily dressing changes on,IV and orl antibiotics. I was in the hospital this last time for 2 weeks. I am slowly improving but beat up! Lost 37 pounds. Can't start chemo until antibiotics are done. Can't get a wound vac until granulation tissue forms over the mesh. There isn't enough skin between the ostomy and flank wound so frequent bag leaks....I'm trying and definitely NOT giving up but man this is a LOT! And good ole Anthem won't pay for HH to do any dressing changes since they do a weekly PICC line dressing change! Ridiculous! Thanks for hearing my venting. Best wishes to everyone. What should I expect when starting Elahere for ovarian cancer?

I was diagnosed with High Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer Stage 2b in November of 23. I’m starting Elahere on November 24th. Please share your experiences with this medication.

What are the side effects of Avastin maintenance therapy for ovarian cancer?

Hey Guys and gals. I was diagnosed with 3c primary periteneal cancer (ovarian cancer) in March 2025 had 4 rounds of chemo then surgery "hysterectomy &onmental removal" in aug then 2 more rounds of chemo CT came back clear no cancer found my ca125 started at 1232 and is now a 4 .may. now I've had my 1st round of Avastin, just wondering if any one is on the same maintaince drug and if you have any side effects I would like to know what I can look forward to..?

How do I stay hopeful with stage 4 ovarian cancer recurrence?

In 2022 I was diagnosed stage four ovarian cancer. I did nine months of chemo and had a hysterectomy, then had three more months of chemo and I’ve been in remission for almost 3 years During my last appointment they found more cancer and I’m going to try chemo again. Second round only has a 30% chance of remission. I so want to be one of the 30% but those are pretty crummy odds! What a bummer

How can I manage ovarian cancer treatment side effects at 70?

Hi! I'm a 70 year old female diagnosed in December of last year with stage 4b ovarian cancer. The spread is only in lymph nodes. Otherwise it's still in the abdominal cavity. It is a form of cancer that is very unusual for ovarian. So we are having to use different medication against it. I've been through three medications, one IV and two pills. All of them caused major reactions, but the last one was effective against the cancer so they want to try a half dose to see if I can tolerate it and have it still be effective. They are hoping for about six months remission. Next doctor visit Monday.

How long is the hospital stay after laparoscopic cancer surgery?

Hey Bonnie, did they send you home after your surgery, since it was laproscopic? Or did you spend a night or two?
