How do I manage severe side effects from Axitinib and Keytruda?

Hi, my husband has kidney cancer and it has spread to his lungs and liver. Since three monts he is on treatment with Axitinib and Keytruda. He has a lot of side-effects wich made him completely waisted. He has no energy, has a sore mouth and tongue and therefore difficulties eating and is very, very tired. Is here someone with the same things? We are thinking about to stop the Axitinib for a while so that his body can take a rest. We live in the Netherlands.

What should I expect from palliative care services?

Is anyone using, or have used, palliative care services? If so, what was your experience? Was it worth it? What goals did you have and did you achieve them? I am going to meet with a palliative care provider and am curious what others got from the service.

Why hasn't my medical records request been fulfilled?

What should I expect when nodules grow during treatment pause?

I was diagnosed with a tumor on my kidney in April 2024. My right kidney was removed and showed no signs of cancer outside the kidney. I December 2024 a CT scan discovered multiple nodules on my lungs. Too small to biopsy so I began treatment with Keytruda and Lenvima oral medication. Due to extreme side effects I was put on a treatment pause in July 2025. At that time the only remaining nodules was 6mm. A CT scan done October 15th showed an increase in the size of the nodules to 1.1 x1.0 cm. I meet with my oncologist next week and hoping that it is not as bad as I think.

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 RCC with mets to the liver and right lower lobe lung, in Oct of 2023. I've been on 5/6 different treatments. The first was Opdivo and a pill, worked really well for close to a year and then just stopped. I have been on four different medications, all gave me major issues. Then my oncologist decided to go into research and then switched me to Dr Reddy. One of the last things he commented on was how there was nothing for him to treat me with and that was because he didn't think I would still be alive. That was really hard to hear, left me speechless and he said I was free to go, and walked out. My current oncologist is much more friendly and concerned for me. I am currently on Votrient that isn't giving me hardly any issues. I will be getting new scans in the next couple of weeks and hopefully things will be better.

How long does it take to see Keytruda results?

I have been on Keytruda for six months. My first three month scan showed slight improvement. I'll take it.

What should I expect starting Keytruda today?

I start keytruda today. Any advice would be great.
