Im having liver surgery in a few days to remove the rcc that I spread from my kidney. Ill be doing keytruda after that. Im pretty scared. My family doesn't act like its a big deal. It is to me. This is so hurtful. Right now it feels worse than actually having the cancer come back.

The isolation that comes from feeling like others don't grasp the weight of what you're facing can feel overwhelming, especially when those people are the ones you most need support from right now. Many in this community have found that family members sometimes minimize medical situations as their own way of coping with fear, though that doesn't make it less painful when you need understanding the most. Consider sharing some specific ways they could support you, or connecting with others here who truly understand what you're going through during this challenging time.

I did a year of Keytruda my rcc came back 20 years later into my pancreas but it was not pancreatic cancer but kidney cancer in my pancreas extremely rare I lost half of my pancreas and all of my spleen 23 years ago I lost my left kidney and adrenal gland. Now my remaining kidney is struggling I just was put on dialysis and I’m researching kidney transplant options

Sheri, you’re a warrior, try to stay positive! Your family may just be trying to play down the seriousness of your surgery as not to have you worry. If you have a good oncologist and a heath care team, it should make you feel confident and positive on what is to come. You’ve got this , because God has you!!! ❤️🙏🏻❤️💪❤️
