What do you do when cancer comes back unexpectedly?

Today was my follow up appointment with my ENT after my second pet-scan.
As I was sitting in the waiting area I started writing down the things that I’m thankful for, since Thanksgiving is just a few days away. I thought it would be appropriate and I was confident that I would get a clean bill of health.
While still writing I was called in to see the doctor, when the doctor came in he started talking to me about my last visit. Things had looked good and there was some inflammation. I mentioned to him that my second pet-scan was done along with labs.In case he didn’t know. He said he didn’t know and would look them up. So he left the room for a few minutes, and returned with some news that I was not prepared for.
He told me that the pet-scan showed that the cancer was growing. He told me that he did not want to wait and watch, that he would contact my insurance company and arrange for a biopsy as soon as possible.
Needless to say I was stunned! It was like the first time when I was told that I had cancer.
I had been feeling good, eating healthy and exercising, I was feeling normal again, so this came as a real shock to me.
I don’t know what to think or say, other than I am stunned by the news!
