How do you cope with fear when facing aggressive thyroid cancer surgery?

Hello. I was diagnosed with poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma. Had a full thyroidectomy in Aug 2025. During this "simple" procedure, they found the tumor had grown under my chest cavity so a cardiologist was called in to perform a sternectomy. They opened my chest, cracked my sternum, and wired me back together. We hoped that was the end. Pathology report says its a very rare but aggressive form of cancer. Im traveling from corpus christi to Houston to receive best medical care . Most recent image showed a new nodule. Another surgery is being planned to remove it ASAP. My faith and trust in God is huge. But fear of the unkown is scary.

Facing the fear that comes with ongoing cancer treatment is completely natural, especially when dealing with such complex procedures and uncertainty about what lies ahead. Many in this community find that acknowledging these fears while holding onto sources of strength - whether that's faith, medical teams, or community support - can help create a sense of balance during difficult times. The combination of getting excellent medical care and having that spiritual foundation sounds like it's providing important anchors as you navigate this challenging journey.

I also have aggressive poorly differentiated thyroid cancer. Just had my 7th surgery, mostly in my neck but one in mediastinum. Also did a round of radiation to both areas. Can't have another surgery in same spots due to excessive scar tissue. Not on anything systemic yet. Scans and bloodwork have been good after last surgery. I am adding lots of supplements and good nutrition to try and help fight it.
