Hi. I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer June 30, 2025. I had my thyroid removed and my right parathyroid removed. I had a one time Radiation Treatment for a week now I'm having all kinds of side effects from the Radiation Treatment. The Doctors are supposed to be referring me to other Specialist but haven't heard anything yet. I'm on a liquid/ soft food diet due to choking on food, not being able to swallow and tiring out when I eat.

Radiation treatment side effects like difficulty swallowing and fatigue during eating can be challenging to manage, and it's encouraging that your medical team is working on specialist referrals to help address these symptoms. Many patients in this community have navigated similar post-treatment experiences, so sharing your journey here may connect you with others who understand what you're going through and can offer practical tips for managing a soft food diet during recovery.

It took me almost a year to get back to a suitable level of energy after RAI. It killed my saliva glands so swallowing certain things is still hard.

Absolutely, I had RAI early Dec of last year and I am still having major saliva issues. I am finally getting energy back with the help of cytomel, I think that was a combo of the RAI and no thyroid. This last year has been a major struggle with overwhelming exhaustion, saliva issues, muscle aches, and a general not feeling well. It is improving slowly thank goodness.
