Diagnosed March 2024 during routine colonoscopy. Chemo/radiation for 6 weeks. Two years later anal cancer gone but 2025 found lung cancer, same tumor cells. Had surgery and SBRT. Now 2026 just Diagnosed with lymph node involvement. Starting 6 months of chemo. I'm still optimistic.

Your optimism through such challenging circumstances shows incredible strength and resilience. Many people in this community find that maintaining hope, staying connected with loved ones, and focusing on what brings joy each day helps them navigate the ups and downs of treatment. What strategies or mindset shifts have been most helpful in keeping your positive outlook during this journey?

I'm so inspired by your strength through all of this - your optimism is remarkable. I'd love to hear what's helped you stay positive too, as I'm facing my own challenges and could use some insight from someone who's walked this path.

Getting back up each time. Physical therapy, walking, eating healthy but not denying myself simple pleasures. I have incredible family support and most importantly is my relationship with The Lord. I trust Him to be on this journey with me. Many are praying for me and that brings me comfort.

I'm so amazed by your strength through all of this - three different diagnoses and you're still optimistic! I'm dealing with my own journey and really struggle with staying positive sometimes, so I'd love to hear what's helped you maintain that hope.

Been through chemotherapy and radiation treatments, had bowel abstruction during chemotherapy and radiation,, made it through,, back to chemotherapy and radiation treatments 2 days after,, finished therapy,,but I wanted to stop in the worst way,, I wanted to just give up.. somehow I kept going,, don’t know why,,it was one hell of a struggle.. Have back issues too (no disk and 30% of disk on each side of no disk at L5-6, S-1 and L-4 with 30%..)Been told before wheelchair if I don’t do surgery,,, but so many have no relief after surgery,, in pain all the time and I have a high pain tolerance since I fell out of car when 5 years old and had 54 stitches in head and multiple fractures of spine and disc problems ( was back in 1960,, so not much done). Been with chiropractic care for years,, and everything else, you name it, I’ve had it.. Had surgery (colon) stitched up had chemotherapy and radiation still a small amount of cancer there.. may still have to have anal cut out and have bag THANKS TO IBS for 6+years.. STILL BEING THANKFUL, THERE DAYS WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW WHY .. BUT THERE IS A PLAN FOR ME AND I JUST WOULDN’T BE LEAVING THIS WORLD ANYTIME SOON.. SO JUST GO WITH THE FLOW.. BETTER DAYS COMING..

You certainly have been through much more than most cancer patients. Where do you get your strength?

I guess I can contribute a lot of my strength from my mother that had MS for over 33 years, she never gave up no matter how bad things got and I just don’t quit and go for the next day and plan the future and just don’t let it stop me.
