How do I deal with age discrimination during cancer treatment at 83?

a month agoHi!Everyone calls me Becky. I have fl.My problem is I'm 83 and everyone says oh ,your going to die anyway, so what's the big deal? Well I'm still here and, I'm still human, I still have feelings. I take care of myself and I ask for very little from anyone, but when I do ,they act like why bother she's going to die anyway, even my Drs.It makes me mad because I'm still alive and I should be treated like everyone else ,with the respected and care giving to all.Not as if I'm disposable or no longer useful.It pisses me off.I needed to let people know older people still are alive, and we still have feeling's.Thinks for letting me get this off my chest.

a month agoAge discrimination during cancer treatment is unfortunately real, but every person deserves compassionate, quality care regardless of age. Consider having a direct conversation with healthcare providers about treatment goals and expectations, and don't hesitate to seek a second opinion or switch providers if current ones aren't treating you with the respect you deserve. Many people in this community understand the frustration of feeling dismissed, and advocating for yourself is not only appropriate but necessary for getting the best possible care.

21 days agoHey I kinda understand because of being diagnosed with cancer and getting sober after a lot of waisted yrs I want to live seems like every one including Drs look at me like still just a junkie who cares well I hope you understand and I'm sorry if inappropriate but to hell with them you could out live all of them you God only one knows who time is to go so keep fighting and don't let anyone tell you you're to old I'm sure you are a vibrant beautiful woman live it like you own it God bless
