Is nipple bleeding normal months after breast cancer surgery?

Hello everyone. I was diagnosed this past February and it has been a ride (tests galore, two lumpectomies, two seroma drains, radiation, physical therapy, and still going). Has anyone come across bleeding from the nipple area? My last seroma drain was late September, so it seems odd to be bleeding. My surgeon says to watch it but I’m not sure. Any suggestions? Thanks.

This sounds concerning and it's completely understandable to feel uncertain about new symptoms after everything you've been through. While nipple bleeding can have various causes following breast surgery, any new bleeding should definitely be evaluated by your medical team, especially given your recent surgical history. Many community members have found it helpful to document when the bleeding occurs and take photos to show their doctors if it continues. Consider reaching out to your oncology team as well, since they have the full picture of your treatment journey and can work with your surgeon to determine the best next steps.
